Domestic poultry and livestock represent the number one customer for U.S. soybean farmers, with 94 percent of the soybean meal used in the United States going to livestock and poultry feeds.
Indirect soybean meal exports in the form of meat have grown and are expected to continue to grow. According to an analysis of SBM utilization, export of poultry and pork is the largest driver for increased domestic utilization of U.S. soybeans.
Poultry and livestock face a number of pressures, including diseases, competition from other countries and activists opposed to animal agriculture. That's why the soybean checkoff has worked to inform soybean farmers and rural neighbors of the benefits of animal agriculture.
